My opinion
When I saw this interior, I knew that it is not in Japan. Then I found that it was in Hong Kong, I fully understood. Sadly Japan, China and Korea tend to be considered as same outside of Asia.
But they have their own characteristic. From my view point, frequently vivid and high-contrasted color is used for Chinese design . For Japanese design, more faded color is often used. They put a value on simplicity and its functional. (However the trend of design is getting modern, increasing number of designers use vivid and loud color now a days.)
